THE CHAPEL OF "GOOD NEWS"
On the road to St. Médard, close to a lovely dense forest dominating the Indre valley, stands the pretty chapel of Bonne Nouvelle. Rebuilt in local stone around 1880, it was originally built in the 15th century, according to legend, on the orders of a young woman, Jeanne de Paray, to fulfill a vow she’d made: to build a chapel if her fiancé, Jacques de La Châtre (a companion of Joan of Arc), came back safe from the war (hence the « good news »). It was until recent times a much-visited place of pilgrimage.
